Growing Your Business The Honest Way

From the humble beginnings of making her product in her own kitchen to running a nationally distributed line of “Human Grade” pet foods, Lucy Postins has always been passionate about running a business built on integrity. Lucy is the founder and Chief Integrity Officer of her company, The Honest Kitchen, which is on a mission to help as many pets as possible on the road to good health, through good food.

With a commitment to creating the best product and having happy employees in addition to happy customers, The Honest Kitchen has grown into a highly successful pet food business. Of course, with growth come the challenges of scale and adaptability. And, as it turns out, integrity isn’t just about the choices you make, but also the data and systems that make your business run. With SAP Business One as the foundation for The Honest Kitchen, Lucy has lead the organization to consistent improvement while sticking to their “True North” of responsibility and principle. In this inspirational keynote, hear from Lucy as she shares her story of taking this “pet” project and turning it into something truly exceptional.

Explosive Growth & A Scalable Future

QALO is a disruptive and unique, rapidly-growing company based in Southern California. QALO is the creator of the functional wedding ring with a mission to inspire a movement that embraces and shares the power of commitment. In 2012, the two founders, Ted Baker and KC Holiday founded QALO from a dining room table looking to prove their concept of the solution they had found for themselves; metal wedding are not practical for our active, everyday lives. Since emptying their savings accounts and launching the company in 2013, they have grown to over 70 employees and continue to blaze their path forward with customer care and product innovation as the clear-cut leaders in the space they created.

With rapid growth, QALO was in desperate need of an ERP system that could support their ambition to extend beyond ecommerce to wholesale distribution. Since implementing SAP Business One in early 2016, QALO has grown to over 1,000 retail locations with partners such as REI and Dick’s Sporting Goods, and they see it as just the beginning.

Stress Management for Small Business Execs

It takes one to know one, or so they say. That’s why Joe Burton – a former Chief Marketing Officer at one of the biggest ad agencies in North America – knows the stresses that come from being a business executive. After several years of flying around the world, delivering packages of stress and anxiety to the people he worked with, Joe learned just what it means to have it all and lose it all. Giving up that life for one more focused on the things that matter – family, fulfilment, happiness – Joe started his own business. With a focus on helping other people learn better ways to manage their stress and discover new methods to pay attention to what really matters, Joe and his company, Whil, have been providing new tools and strategies to everyone from high powered Silicon Valley techies to kids just coming out of high school. In this session, learn a bit more about the toll stress takes on all of us and how you can cope with the difficulties of being a small business executive in a world that values how tired you are more than how much you make a difference.

Business One in the Next 20 Years: A Platform for Growth

SAP Business One turned 20 last year. If it were a human, that would mean it was poised to enter the prime of its life. If it were a dog, it would be getting very long in the tooth, unable perhaps to learn new tricks. In software years, 20 is often thought of as mature, “even over the hill.” While many mature ERP solutions have changed very little over the last decade or more, SAP believes it still has a long life ahead and is aggressively planning for the next 20 years. But SAP Business One is becoming more than just ERP. It is becoming a business process platform. Why does this matter today and why is it good for customers? In short: To be competitive in today’s global, digital economy, the software that runs your business must be open, extensible, and poised to meet your specific needs.

The Sup Crossing: Go the Distance, One Stroke at a Time

Chris dares to achieve what most perceive to be Impossible. His mantra of Dream It, See it, Believe it and Achieve it, has led Chris to redefine the approach to achieving success, not only across multiple sports, but also as an Author, Film Maker, Businessman and attaining any goal he has set for himself.

In March 2017, Chris completed his most challenging adventure yet by successfully accomplishing something no other human on the planet has come close to achieving - becoming the first person ever to cross the entire Atlantic Ocean, over 7500km, alone and unsupported, on a Stand-Up Paddleboard over 93 days.

Come to this keynote to be inspired to adopt a “can do” attitude and achieve greatness by implementing the tools and skills which Chris teaches through his powerful storytelling.

Best Practices & Ideas: Migrating Business One From SQL to HANA

The vast majority of SAP Business One Customers today run their ERP system on Microsoft SQL.  With the high emphasis on SAP HANA as the platform of the future, how do these typical customers begin to strategically plan their migration into the HANA based platform of the future.  This change is essential in order to truly take advantage of the full collection of features SAP delivers in each new version of SAP Business One; some only available in the HANA version.  More importantly the true promise of the cloud and all it will mean to business in the future, will only be realized fully by customers running real-time databases, like HANA.

Many industry analysts believe that within 3-5 years users will no longer work from desktops and laptops running large, full features application clients, whether they be old style fat clients (like most SAP Business One users run today) or even HTML web based application running in a browser.  Instead users will choose micro applications designed specifically for their primary day-to-day requirements, highly focused, able to work on any device, and consumed in a SAAS licensing model.

  • How do these typical SAP Business One companies migrate into the future and move from SQL to HANA?

  • Is there more than one way to make this transition?

  • Has anyone done it?

  • What are some immediate benefits?

Key Business Benefits:

  • Meet Chris Walker from HTRI - his company migrated from SQL to HANA in February 2017

  • Learn three different ways to migrate from SQL to HANA?

  • Understand that this is not a TACTICAL UPGRADE - rather this is a STRATEGIC DECISION!

Additional Notes:

Most SQL Customers know about HANA and would like to have at least some of the deliverables and features in the HANA version. They just have no idea how to get there or what the costs might be.

Business One Training: Queries in Business One (Basics & More)

SAP Business One, unlike many contemporary ERP systems provides users with the ability to query or ask questions of their database.  Everything is there, but how does one find the data they need?  Yes, there are tools in SAP Business One to access this data, but what are the basic ways to use these tools in order to jump start your personal skill set?

This 90-minute training session will go through some of the query basics within SAP Business One, such as:

  • Obtaining the basics of creating Queries

  • Become aware of the complete Query tool set

  • Comprehend the power of Queries

  • Mentally connect queries and reporting options

  • Appreciate how SAP Business One leverages the use of Queries

  • See Queries in Action

Key Business Benefits:

Download the course contents and deliverables (All illustrations are Video recordings and may be re-played at any time)

See queries working in Crystal Reports and Microsoft Excel

50+ free Queries (All may be imported to your system) learn how

Additional Notes:

Learning to create your own Queries will not remove the need to obtain help from your consultant, but it will greatly reduce this need for many requests. This course seeks to provide the foundation to grow from. A good refresher for longer term user and a must have for all new users of SAP Business One.

How to Use Business One to Perform Month End Closing and Prepare Banking Reports for Your Company

Whether you are a seasoned SAP Business one user or a new use, month end closing is a struggle for everyone. Maybe you have just implemented SAP Business One and now it is time to perform your month end reconciliations and closing routine. You will benefit greatly from this session which includes an ex Controller user and What should you do each month? During the implementation process you are generally tied up cleaning up your data, learning features and functions and training your users. You may not have even thought about what you need to do in SAP Business One to close the month. Or perhaps you’ve been running SAP Business One for some time but you still think you could do better in closing each month. Learn Best Practices, procedures, and which reports to run as well as how to run the reports to get the data you need to perform this balancing routine.

We all know that many reports in SAP Business One have numerous selection criteria fields. How you complete the selection fields is critical to obtaining the financial data you are looking for.

Live Dashboards Provide Updated KPIs Across the Business

Procedure changes only matter if you can prove their success. In any business, it is important not only to establish a baseline of performance, but also to monitor that performance for both quality assurance and efficiency improvements. OCuSOFT created Live dashboards as a way of accomplishing these goals. We have implemented dashboards which provide live updated KPI’s in nearly every department. These dashboards have allowed us to not only drive individual performance, but also see bottle necks and make procedure changes to correct them. In this session, OCuSOFT will share their story on how they were able to obtain live updated KPI’s throughout their company.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Improve business processes

  • Improve business knowledge

  • Encourage employee improvement

Process Orders Seven Times Faster with Web-Based Services & DI Server

If you’re packing and shipping orders from a warehouse, you’ve probably experienced a bottle neck in productivity. OCuSOFT, a development and supply company specializing in eye and skin care, was living with that bottleneck every day. Orders were released using the native Business One Pick Pack Manager. These orders were printed and the pickers would pick them and take them to the packers. This process was slow, sometimes taking as long as 30 minutes from start to finish on a single order.

Through an integration from SAP to a web based application running on an iPhone with a sled, we have been able to reduce that time to around 4 minutes. Web-based integration allows for faster updates and allows the app to take advantage of the many web libraries in existence today. In addition, this same concept can be applied to a whole host of other web based applications. In this session, you’ll learn how OCuSOFT was able to significantly reduce pick pack time in their warehouse.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Improved order processing times

  • Improved order accuracy

  • Improved order visibility

Mirror Images: How We Avoided a Double Entry System

As a third party billing office, ALLPRO’s accounting system requires that its accounts receivables (AR) and accounts payables (AP) are perpetually balanced. This posed a challenge as we had to efficiently enter data on both sides without entering it twice, while at the same time avoiding differences in the transition.

We overcame this challenge through the extensive use of SAP queries, SQL, and the TaskCenter application.  The SQL server allows us to sort through the extensive number of invoices in our AP and identify the appropriate data that needs to be reflected in our AR. We then run TaskCenter in the background, copying everything from the AP side to the appropriate place on the AR side.   Finally, we run extensive SAP queries through multiple fields in order to validate the data and identify potential errors.  Ultimately, this process is less labor intensive and provides for a more efficiently and effectively balanced system.

Through this unique process, data entry that used to take five hours a day worth of work now only consumes an hour and a half of the day. This 70% decrease in data entry has given us the ability to spend more time working closely with our members developing relationships with them as well as ensuring that they are getting the most out of our business relation, as opposed to spending most of our time entering data. While the basis of how we use Business One is unique, the processes and queries that we utilize can be used across all industries to ensure that differences in payables and receivables can be uncovered and corrected before it creates a cash flow issue.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Improved visibility over all sides of a transaction to ensure that data on the Sales and Purchases side match at all times

  • Ability to streamline invoicing functions and through the effective use of add-ons and customization.

  • Increased productivity by integrating and automating the invoicing process.

Establishing a High Performance Culture Empowers Continuous Improvements

Have you ever wondered what it takes to create a company culture that strives for unified trust, values transparency and innovation?  Milena Radakovic, President of Nexus Exhibit, shares how SAP Business One started as a roller coaster ride of fear of change, internal conflict, the development of useless customizations, and lack of commitment by all. Through sustained effort and commitment to change – including large staff turnover and changing SAP consultant – this lead to a team of highly engaged and committed members and a transformation of how Nexus Exhibits’ business processes and procedures were conducted and emerged.

With the support from Projectline and additional help from EOS (Entrepreneur Operating System) to augment Business One and Eralis, there was a culture change across the entire organization and the company finally had:

  • Clear Vision and 5 year Goals for the Company

  • Creation of company's Core Value

  • Full transparency

  • Project collaboration across all departments

  • A huge change in invoicing and tracking projects

  • Increase in cash flow

  • Ultimately a winning team

The company's initial needs of improved collaboration, integrated with clear communication protocols, and augmented with third party applications, streamlined Nexus Exhibits overall business. Learn how Business One takes Nexus from Good to Great.

SAP Flexibility Molds with Blue Trading through Complete Business Model Change

Finding an ERP software solution for a company like Blue Trading wasn’t easy. As a reverse logistics company who buys retail and sells wholesale, we needed a versatile system that could handle our industry specific challenges.

With the support of Consensus International we created a set of documents and reports customized to our very particular needs. It allowed us to process purchases from thousands of small suppliers, who were selling thousands of different SKUs in multiple conditions. Furthermore, when our industry underwent a monumental collapse we knew we had to quickly adapt or we would disappear.

Once again, we were able to adjust SAP to meet the needs of our new business model. This time creating tools to integrate SAP to online market places like Amazon, EBay, Walmart, etc.
Join us in this session where we will share our experience of adapting to change under extreme pressure.

Leveraging Business One to Greatest Effect for All Stakeholders

This story cuts across the core challenges of Innovation, Usability, and Integration that most Business One users experience. Jason Simons from Innovative Communication Systems shares how they use a combination of programs to meet their unique business needs. Work order tickets went from a minimum of 15 days to complete (and in some cases lasting months) down to a 72-hour turn around. With real-time visibility of workloads on the field technicians, management has been able to make choices that save ICS time and money, as well as improve the entire business workflow.

At ICS, their goal over the next three years is to utilize the Versago/Bizweaver combination from Third Wave to integrate all the varied software programs and databases into one single database (SAP) for data integrity. The projects include but are not limited to:

Bizweaver:

  • Integrate our quoting tool Quosal into B1. This will consolidate those two databases.

Versago/Bizweaver:

  • Integrate our GPS, shipping and ticketing systems into B1 to eliminate dual entry and having to switch between various programs when managing remote technical staff.

  • Create an end user customer portal for self-service and ordering of commonly ordered parts. This will help to eliminate end user emails for service and push requests directly into SAP for SLA tracking

  • We will be creating a Project Management portal with Versago for managing projects, processes and job costing

SAP has always been a very powerful tool but too closed off for our mobile work force. Versago is opening this up for us to be more mobile, efficient and professional. ICS is now going through and working on improving each department and process through this automation and web enablement. Versage and Bizweaver are removing hurdles that were in place with for years and at the fraction of the cost of starting new and implementing a new ERP system.
Additional Notes:

OGI Eyeware will focus on Versago use-cases they are solving for a team of 40 Independent field reps, giving them the ability to access/enter information on Business One and more effectively manage their prospects and customers in the field using tablets and phones.

A Non-Trivial SQL-to-HANA Migration: Inception to Cutover

HTRI offers insight into their decision, schedule, and strategy for migrating an on-premise Business One implementation from Microsoft SQL to HANA through entirely internal resources. HTRI's implementation is deeply customized, featuring 591 User Queries, 254 custom tables, 233 Crystal Reports, 165 views and functions, 5 applications, and 1 custom add on.

Details from each stage of the migration will be discussed, including the choosing of an appliance, initial setup, query migration, process automation to support repeatability and testing, and the backup/disaster recovery options. Learn how Daniel Phelps and a team of developers carried out this extensive and intricate migration without any external consulting or development.

Livecoding: Service Layer + ReactJS

Witness a custom Business One application come to life. This session is for Business and IT folks alike, who want to learn more about the Service Layer. We’ll learn that it’s not an unknowable mystery but a modern and powerful tool as we leverage the Service Layer with ReactJS to quickly assemble a web-based administrative workflow that manages the creation and searching of BusinessPartner records. We will start with a 'Hello World' React app and write some Javascript to support Service Layer OData operations. We will integrate that code into some React components to support logging in, managing BusinessPartner records, and logging out. This presentation is technical, but managers interested in customizing their Business One implementation should attend as well.

How SAP Business One Improved our Efficiency and Growth

From 1991-2005 Compliance Poster Company was running 2 systems- QuickBooks for accounting and Mail Order Manager (MOM) for Sales Order logistics and shipping.  We needed a complete solution for Customer Relations Management, Accounting, Order processing and production logistics, and shipping.

We have over 800k customers in the database and 350-700 orders daily with more than 4000 orders a day during our busy cycle. We needed a software that could manage this effectively and have room to grow and expand.

We looked at many software companies. NetSuite, Great Plains Dynamics, Mas90, and choose SAPB1 because of its ability to easily be modified (UDF’s, UDT’s, SQL base,) and integrate with other solutions. There were many things that we needed to improve on and SAPB1 gave us the flexibility and structure to do this.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Sales order processing and shipping logistics

  • Real time inter-department communication with queries and alert

  • EDI integration

8 Years With Minimal Add-ons: CommUSA’s Success Through Mastering Queries

CommUSA, one of the largest Motorola Channel Partners in the country, develops and implements wireless solutions for business and government. We maintain our high level of service with B1’s “out-of-the-box” core functionality, utilizing minimal add-ons.  Since going live in 2009, we’ve learned that “less is more” with B1.  Upgrading typically takes less than a day’s work and we don’t run the risk of our add-ons becoming incompatible with core B1. We use B1 for all facets of our business, including but not limited to: accounting and financials (including bank statement reconciliation), integration with Outlook, CRM, commissions, sales tax reporting, service and repairs, shipping and receiving, inventory management (MRP), and rental inventory tracking.

So what’s the secret? Queries! If the data is in SAP and you know the field location, you don’t need an add-on to get it out, you just need the right query. Here are a few examples of what we’re able to do through queries without add-ons:

  • Our entire – and extensive - commission process

  • Reconciling California sales tax down to the item at the District (city) level.

  • Multiple CRM based reports like: data for cold calling, management of sales reps, and even special pricing granted to certain customers.

  • Inventory projections when Motorola is running special pricing promos.

These queries and more were all written by someone with an accounting background and no formal training in SQL. In this session, Tami Beverson, a completely self-taught query writer will go into detail about how she learned to save CommUSA time and money by finding creative ways to use out-of-the-box B1. Join Tami as she shares the story of going live in 2009, upgrading three times, and learning how to get more out of the technology CommUSA already had.

Business One, WMS & EDI: A Cost Savings Trifecta

Prestilux is the oldest distributor of beauty products brands in the Canadian market and one of the leaders in the prestige category, and a long time shared client of both N’ware and DiCentral. They are a Business One Client of N’ware’s and they are using N’ware’s LISA WMS (Warehouse Management Solution) and DiCentral’s EDI Integrated Suite for SAP Business One.

Prestilux had disjointed systems and were relying heavily on human intervention when processing both sales and purchase orders. By using a powerful solution like SAP Business One, Prestilux was able to implement LISA for WMS and DiCentral’s EDI Integrated Suite

As a result of this combination, Prestilux has seen a host of improvements to their business, such as:

  • Improve customer satisfaction which resulted in repeat orders.

  • By using LISA WMS, the number of errors occurring at receiving were virtually eliminated. This allowed for a much more accurate and therefore reliable inventory count.

  • Automate the exchange of EDI Documents with 10 key Trading Partners including Nordstrom and HBC.

  • Orders and Invoices were integrated directly into SAP Business One eliminating the need to manually enter thousands of orders per month by leveraging the existing Business One infrastructure

  • Significantly reduce the effort and time required to process Orders, resulting in lower cost and faster shipment of orders.

N’ware Technologies and Di Central have been affiliated with the SAP channel since Business One was rolled out in North America. It makes sense that these two seasoned and respected partners present together at Biz.ONE in Anaheim.

Uncovering SAP Business One’s Full Capability Before Investing in Third Party Add-ons

SAP Business One has a plethora of functionality within its core system.  Over the years, SAP has tailored and expanded its ERP solution while keeping end users in mind. In each new version, SAP incorporates new functionality and systems that meet customer needs such as fixed assets, UI customization, and Project Management. Many of these enhancements are already a part of various third party add-on solutions.

It’s all too easy for an organization to miss some of the announcements regarding new functionality or maybe conclude that it’s just simpler to have an add-on meet that business need. But organizations need to be watchful to ensure they don’t spend valuable time and resources on functions that SAP out-of-the-box can perform.

As the Business Systems Manager at Magnum Oil Tools, Michael Lieber is constantly educating himself on what new functionality the latest release of SAP will bring and how that compares to Magnum’s current version: 9.2. With the goal to always get the most out of their ERP system, Michael has made it a mandate not to go through any more unnecessary add-on implementations. In this session, learn about Michael’s process of analyzing the company’s spending and how Magnum saved money by leveraging SAP’s out-of-the-box functionality.

This is not to criticize third-party add-ons in any way. Many are beneficial and add critical or necessary functionality that SAP cannot perform. This session is intended to help organizations ensure they truly analyze their business needs before making investments in new technology.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Increasing the utilization of a system that you have already bought and paid for

  • Save company capital to invest in other projects that have a better ROI

  • Allows end users to utilize functionality that will provide the organization with long term benefits that aid in increasing the bottom line

Visibility & Data in Business One Help Andes Global Trading Meet Our Brand Promise

Andes Global Trading was formed to become an extraordinary company, with business focus in Quality, Integrity and Trust.  To accomplish and reach its objectives, operational systems were needed in all the company’s areas to streamline its processes, to maintain its buyers, vendors, employees, and inventory all connected in real time. In September 2015, after much research, Andes GT determined that SAP B1 was the system capable of streamlining the company’s process.

Implementing SAP B1 was not only a sound financial decision to make but a necessary one to control and manage information.  Project Managers from Consensus and from Andes GT, along with an internal team, started the adventure. The initial implementation of SAP was not easy, involving culture changes in addition to the process changes.

Over the course of the implementation, Andes GT encountered several significant challenges in streamlining the financial information, such as:

  • Use of three databases for different companies held by Andes GT

  • Overall financial information of the company was not available

  • Integrating the three databases to communicate as one

Additionally, Andes GT had to create and develop methods to ensure accurate and timely reporting to all areas. In this session, learn about how the Andes GT team addresses major milestones such as:

  • The difficult creation of queries and usage of the standard features

  • Setting up of processes needed to be tracked.

  • The reporting of the databases needed to be created using the three different databases to become one accurate and concise report.

For the last 6 months, in collaboration with the logistics side of the project, Andes GT has been creating a "Tower Control".  This tower control will allow visibility to track the company’s operations and communicate information to our sales team and customers. Furthermore, we are working on the development of a portal to communicate with customers and sales personnel to provide visibility of our services.

One of our core values is Proactive Service. We provide Personal and Professional treatment.   We take sincere care for the client to help them grow.  We operate with a sense of urgency.  We communicate proactively about load status and tracking.  SAP B1 is allowing us to fulfill the commitment with our customers.

Tips & Tricks: Maximizing CRM Capabilities

CRM technically stands for Customer Relationship Management, but in reality, you’re managing much more than just sales and customer relations. You need to manage all business partner relationships, including customers, prospects and vendors. SAP Business One provides the right tools to give you a 360-degree view of all your business partner relationships.

Furthermore, depending on your role within your company, you will have different relationship management requirements. For example, a finance person is probably focused on managing receivables and payables so they’ll need the right tools to help stay on top of delinquent customers, and safeguard against collection calls from vendors. A salesperson, on the other hand, requires tools to create quotes and orders on the fly, and manage opportunities within their pipeline to track specific opportunity details such as potential amount, gross profit, predicted closing date, percentage of closing, business partner activities and interactions, etc. And a purchaser likely needs extensive purchasing analytics to help negotiate better prices with vendors. How can SAP Business One help manage all of this?

Whatever your role, SAP Business One has extensive intelligent relationship management features embedded throughout the entire system. We’ll take a holistic view at relationship management within SAP Business One and teach you practical applications of these features to improve your business relationship management.

What you will learn and take-away from this session:

  • Smart Opportunity Management

    • Utilizing BP Activities

    • Reminders and alerts

    • Many helpful out-of-box reports

  • Using Analytics for CRM

    • New Customer 360 feature

    • Quick access to info (Dashboards/KPIs)

    • Other useful tools (i.e., B1UP to create specific CRM buttons/reports

  • Pro-active reporting vs. Reactive reporting

    • Build some business CRM specific reports

    • Set up these CRM reports as alerts

Key Business Benefits:

  • Proactively manage relationships and increase customer satisfaction

  • Gain valuable insight into key business data

  • Increase efficiency and productivity

Ceramic Technics Grows Into SAP

Ceramic Technics Ltd (CTL) is a tile distributor going through a period of rapid growth and expansion.  The company used a legacy system running on old technology.  The functionality did not meet the expanding requirements of the company and reporting was inflexible, requiring the use of external tools.   The major positive of the software was that it was custom tailored for our industry.

CTL’s growth combined with the cost of maintenance and inflexibility of our current solution drove us to SAP Business One (B1).  The implementation of B1 resulted in numerous improvements to our business processes.

  • Warehouse Transformation; SAP B1 allowed us to implement a world-class distribution warehouse utilizing bin locations and item tracking from receipt to delivery.  Time for order picking and inventory maintenance decreased.

  • Customer Service; Streamlining our processes and increased visibility using tools such as the Relationship Map increased our productivity.  Automated document generation for items such as Purchase Orders reduced many previous possible points of failure.

  • Dynamic reporting; Using dynamic reporting such as Open Items and the flexible data grids allowed easy reporting and extract of data for other uses

  • Sales; SAP B1 gave our Sales team enhanced visibility into their business, allowing them to take control of their Orders and deliver live inventory information to our Clients

  • Crystal Reports; Having the ability to modify forms and reports ad hoc provided further extensibility and flexibility without the need for constant assistance from Software Developers

  • Customization; B1 with the Boyum B1 Usability Package enabled our Company to have all the “industry” functionality with the power and stability of the B1 package

Key Business Benefits:

  • Implementation of Warehouse Management processes including bin-locations

  • Sales and Customer Service process streamlined

  • Improved reporting

Supply Chain Synchronicity with Business One

CandyRific operates in a commodity business, which has a complex supply chain environment, including multiple Trading Partners to manage (more than 35), and various Distributor relationships. Thus, keeping these various entities in a constant communications loop, is vital to the success of their business. Furthermore, their products are dependent on impulse purchases, consequently, they need to be supported by strong marketing and point-of-purchase displays. CandyRific’s revenue success depends on product sales volumes, effective product fulfillment (full selves), complemented by real-time data and effective Supply Chain management.

In CandyRific’s IT environment prior 2009, utilized three disparate computer systems for Accounting, Business Reporting and EDI. As a result, many internal resources were consumed to generate accurate data extraction and report compilation from their IT systems, and being able to communicate this information to all their Trading Partners, quickly and accurately, virtually impossible. They seemed to be in a constant state of utilizing all their resources just to get their information. Also, even before they proliferated their Trading Partner list, they had trouble keeping up with them at that time. One year they had more that $30K in Chargebacks.

Solution/ Result:

After implementing of SAP Business One, all internal applications were consolidated onto one business platform, SAP B1, meaning it now takes dramatically less resources, and subsequently time, to produce meaningful analytics, that are utilized across the business to better run their business, on a daily basis.  In addition, now that they have better Analytics to make better decisions, they can also share it with their Third Party Brokers, 3PLs or other Trading Partner who require it for planning purposes.  In essence, having everyone “reading off the same song sheet” allows the entire Supply-Chain to be in synchronicity.  The after SAP Business One implementation becomes even more interesting, when YTD they don’t have any Chargebacks this year and their human resources are doing higher level functions instead of all the manual functions related to order processing.

Metrics:

  • As an example, in the past it took Accounting 2 days to put together their monthly business reports, this now can be completed in an afternoon ~ resulting in 15 person-days saved, a year.

  • Additionally, all of their pick lists use to be emailed to their 3PL by PDF and they also use to have to prepare all of their UCC-128 label files on site and email them over to their 3PL’s.

  • This has also resulted in 32 person days saved a year, on top of the mistakes made by manually keying these in and the cost and time to produce and shop

  • Business revenue is up 15% since 2013, all managed with the same human footprint

Additional Info:

Go-Live Plus One Year with No Pain

In March of 2016, Transpacific Foods went live on SAP B1.  Once live, our workflow did not hit any major transactional speedbumps–we published our financial statements on time!  Why?  Because we spent two years changing our culture and behavior, reengineering our data, and establishing rules prior to go-live.  A rule example:  SAP B1 would to be the Central Brain; we were no longer permitting the company to be run by Excel spreadsheets.  This was a critical hurdle to overcome.

Each of these elements took many hours, days and even months to overcome.  We made crucial decisions regarding licensing, VAR selection, timing, static and dynamic data.  We addressed upfront any and all pains with respect to workflow, personnel, and reporting.  No stone when unturned, no elephant was left in the room.

Key Business Benefits:

- Smooth transition from legacy software to SAP B1
- Customers, suppliers, and business partners were not affected by the implementation
- Business decisions were made faster and more effectively with better information

People & Business One

The software engineers create it, the implementation consultants give it purpose and the users are what bring SAP Business One to life in the organization. Aligning your SAP’s purpose to your people is a key not only for a successful implementation but as well for a fulfilled company experience.

Sean Lavin of Aircom will begin by speaking about what the purpose was for Aircom’s SAP and the staff he selected for working on the implementation and why. He will focus on how their personalities played a big role before, and after implementing the software.

The take away of this presentation is for the audience to consider having an internal SAP team if they don’t already, and the importance of having different personalities at that table. Also the tips and tricks for having successful SAP team meetings.

Ram Products’ Journey to Full Mobility with SAP Business One HANA and Pepperi

Ram Products, a leader in the MRO parts industry, offers a wide selection of repair and maintenance products and services. As Ram Products grew, it became clear that their ERP was missing the flexibility and features that they need. With 19 Mobile Warehouses in eight states, Ram Products looked for a solution that is fully available to their team in the field – online and offline.

After benchmarking several solutions, it became clear that the strength and flexibility of SAP Business One HANA, combined with Pepperi’s mobile B2B commerce platform, were the right solution. With Pepperi, Ram Products’ Mobile Warehouses have full access to their ERP data, online and offline. Orders that are taken in the field are recorded in the ERP and inventory per warehouse and for the company is tracked and is always up-to-date.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Support business growth with a strong and flexible ERP

  • Full mobile access, online and offline, for teams in the field

  • Management gains full insight and control over sales operations

Using the Power of Excel as a Reporting Tool for Business One

Today, many companies and business users rely on Excel to create custom made reports. The versatility and ease of use have made Excel the preferred tool for most areas within a company, but the true power comes when connecting it directly to the source of the data, instead of using it as a data collector.

Interglass uses SAP Business One as the center of all transactions and data collection. We decided to use B1 because of the ability to cover all areas of the company, but when it comes to organizing all the information into a dynamic report that could have the form of a list, a dashboard, or a graph, we connect Excel directly to B1’s SQL database. Within Excel we are then able to filter groups of information, select from drop down lists to compare different scenarios, view dynamic graphs; all while maintaining a real-time connection with live data. We are also able to integrate information from SAP B1, our glass fabrication software, and our time and attendance software into a single report.

Interglass succeeded at creating a culture where employees do not us Excel to input data. If that were to happen, it would negate the benefits of using a centralized data source in B1. By connecting Excel directly to SAP Business One and using it for reporting and data visibility, Interglass has all the benefits of Excel without any of the drawbacks.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Centralizing all data into one database for accuracy and security

  • Creating reports with basic Excel knowledge but conveniently customizable

  • Flexibility of integrating different key performance indicators and different types of analysis into a single view with a familiar user interface

The Medina Dairy Chronicles: Mobility & Cloud Yield Success with Enterpryze

At Medina Dairy, we deliver more than 4 million liters of milk a week and in excess of 1 million loaves and bread and eggs a week across UK supermarkets. Such a high turnover of products resulted in huge amounts of paperwork and data entry to update our SAP Business One solution.

We were one of the early adopters of the new cloud-based and mobile first solution Enterpryze. We worked with our partner Milner Browne to help develop the Enterpryze Deliver mobile app to capture and digitalize delivery notes and other key data.

With Enterpryze we can capture real-time arrival and departure times and get instant notification in SAP Business One on delivery notes. More importantly, the solution has dramatically reduced the required man power and time spent on data entry. Twenty of our 120 drivers have been trialing Enterpryze and we’ve been able to reduce data entry by 3 hours per day.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Control and visibility with a route-based sales delivery method

  • Cost savings from moving to a paperless environment

  • Information is now captured on a mobile device and fed straight back into SAP Business One, while drivers are on the road

Additional Notes:
After the successful trial period in our delivery team, the solution is now going to be rolled out across rest of the rounds this summer. We estimate this will remove around 30 hours of data entry a week from the business. In addition, we also have plans to utilize some of other tools in Enterpryze. There are mobile apps for sales and expenses that we plan to explore further to see how these can deliver additional benefits.
